Fall officially begins on Friday, September 23 at 5:05 am.  I may not be fully awake to appreciate the beginning of fall but I do love pumpkins!  Rest assured, Ralph & I will be "up and at it" getting ready for Opening Weekend at Devine Farms!  It's officially pumpkin time at our pumpkin farm at 10 am on Saturday, September 24th.  Plus, our annual Pumpkin Egg Hunt begins at 10 am sharp on Sept. 24!  This annual event is free and for children 2-10 years old.  Devine Farms gives $100 in prizes away.  Wear a costume and receive a ticket for a free ride on our Barrel Train ride.  The Licking County Sheriff's staff will be on duty to make an ID print card for your child.  Check out all the details at www.devinefarms.com And, now I'm returning to the pumpkin patch till next time.....Charla Devine

Are you ready for pumpkin season at Devine Farms?  We are getting ready for our pumpkin season and your visit!  Where does the time go?  Seems like we just ended our 2009 pumpkin patch season and now it's time to bring out the Barrel Train Ride for 2010! 

We have been busy both inside and outside.  Outside, we are rolling up our sleeves and cleaning out our 5 farm buildings in preparation of your visit this pumpkin season.   A major inside chore has been going from "snail mail" to a newsletter format and other social media.  This Pumpkin Blog is also new.  Charla is blogging....well trying to blog.  Everyone who knows me, knows I am seldom without something to say except when faced with blogging!   Please be patient. 

Not to worry, your favorites are returning such as pumpkin painting and the Barrel Train ride.   Folks have been enjoying the Barrel Train at Devine Farms since 1998!   New this year is Magic Shows!  Mr. Magic, Dave Lehman will be at the farm on certain Sundays this fall. For all the details, click on the Sept. & Oct calendars or the Activity page.  Where can you see magic for $1 per child & $2 per adult?  Devine Farms, that's where. 

Speaking of the Barrel Train ride, we are taking it on the road to the Millersport Sweet Corn Festival Parade on Wed., Sept. 1st.  Parade starts at 6 pm.  Give us a shout out when we pass you.  We will be giving out free tickets to ride the Barrel Train at the farm during pumpkin season.    

Devine Farms is in Hebron, OH about 20 minutes from Newark; 30 minutes from Zanesville and 30 minutes from Columbus, OH.  Our pumpkin farm is on Route 40/the historic National Road and just off I-70.  Our farm is perfect for a family visit or reserve  the farm for your  company outing or other activity.    

And, time for school to start again!  Where did the summer go?  We hope you had a good summer.  It was definitely a hot one and still is!  The pumpkins are looking good and we are getting the farm ready for our annual pumpkin season. As you see on the website, our Opening Day for Pumpkins & the Barrel Train Ride is Saturday, Sept. 18th.  For teachers and group leaders, our field trips begin after our opening weekend!  We have made a few changes to the website.  We still have the convenient booking form for you to fill out and submit.  This way, we can check and see if the date you selected to visit is available before we return your call. 

New this year is a video about our school tours and field trips!   Please click onto the General Information tab, then onto Field Trips.  The video pops up on every page but the larger version of the video is on the Field Trip tab.  You will see that the video captures the essence of our farm and outlines the educational standards that our field trips meet.  We look forward to your visit to Devine Farms this fall.  Enjoy the rest of your summer and the first weeks  of the new school year.  We'll be right here tending to the pumpkin patch and cleaning out the barns in anticipation of your visit!

Oh.....just in case the children ask or you're wondering........the Bee Hives are still working in the pumpkin patch.  They arrived in July and the hives will be removed in September just before we begin to harvest the pumpkins and gourds.  Bees love hot, dry weather so they have been lovin' this summer!
