Our farm enterprise began in 1992 when we purchased 96 acres on the Historic National Rd. - Rt. 40 in Licking County with an 1890 farmhouse on it.  The farm is 30 minutes from Columbus, OH and not far from Newark, OH.   (Were we thinking about pumpkins in 1992?  Nope!) Ralph grew up on a farm in Illinois but Charla grew up in Ohio within city limits.  Ralph raised sheep as a boy and longed to do that again.  In the beginning, Ralph did raise sheep.  We finally got out of the sheep raising business but Charla has some humorous tales about herding sheep on Rt. 40.   Rt. 40 is the historic National Road which saw many early settlers and livestock westward bound to settle this great nation.  So livestock is nothing new on that historic road!   In 1994, Ralph grew Indian Corn and attempted to market it.   He learned that people wanted cornstalks instead.  So, he started to bundle the cornstalks with our daughter, Kristin.  They delivered cornstalks to various stores to sell for fall decorating.  This project was done in between her attending college and Ralph and Charla working day jobs off the farm.  Ralph says we got into the pumpkin business because Charla wanted some pumpkins for decorating.  And so, 50 pumpkins for decorating became five weeks of fall fun!  

We were totally on the honor system, selling pumpkins and cornstalks in the front yard while we were at work.  And even today, we continue to  "honor" that early tradition.  During spring, summer & winter, you may purchase straw bales and corn for the critters on the honor system.   Go to Farm Building One, look for the Pumpkin Face & Feed the Pumpkin!  (Put the money in the pumpkin's mouth.)  During our fall season, Farm Building One becomes our pumpkin yard and gift shop so someone's always there to help you during our business hours.   And, if we are closed, well, just "feed the pumpkin!"   In 1997, Charla quit her full time job to devote time to the farm enterprise. 

Since those early "good old days",  we have expanded to 5 buildings and have lots of activities every fall weekend for six weekends.  People visit us from far and wide since we are only 30 minutes from Columbus, OH - just off I-70 and also just outside Hebron, OH and a hop, skip and jump from Newark, OH.  We are more than a pumpkin patch.   You can reserve the farm for a school tour, a company event or church group.    We have pumpkins and gourds and a wide variety of harvest products, Indian Corn, crafts, straw bales, squirrel corn, honey and cornstalks.    Please browse our website for more details on all of our activities.  We couldn't manage the fall season without the help of good employees.
